When Hans Glas designed a villa on Wilbrandtgasse in Pötzleinsdorf for the medical couple Anna and Philipp Rezek in the historic year of 1933, it was considered one of the most visionary in Vienna. The building, dubbed the "Glas House" by the Rezek family, appears to be the quintessence of modern construction and the philosophy of living in Vienna in the 1930s. The Viennese architect Hans Glas (1892–1969), a student of Adolf Loos, is virtually unknown in Austria today.

This book describes Villa Rezek in detail, illustrated with numerous historical and newly taken photographs by Stefan Oláh. It sheds light on entirely new aspects of Vienna's architectural history in the 1930s and tells the life stories of the architect and his clients, who were forced to flee Vienna in 1938 to escape the Nazis because of their Jewish origins.

Forced emigrations like these not only resulted in human tragedies, but also marked the abrupt end of the flowering of modern architecture and interior design in Vienna. Hans Glas's ideas and design principles are more relevant today than ever.

The price will be €38.50. (ISBN 978-3-03860-445-7)
